Description
What does Queer mean? How can we create collective tools to understand where we are speaking from and what vision of the world we are transmitting?
How can we go beyond stereotyped, heteronormative binary representations? How can we tell other stories? With other characters? With other codes?
How can fiction immerse us in strangeness and difference? How can we avoid reproducing social violence for its own sake? How can we (perhaps) make amends? How can we dream differently?
By combining the exploration of the notion of queer with the experimentation of writing, we will work together to build new ways of telling our stories. New narratives that are more inclusive, freer, more ambitious, more radical.
Put into practice
We will first discuss a body of selected works at the table. This will bring together contemporary dramatic texts, extracts from novels, poetry and theoretical texts. It will be a question of discussing around and based on the texts. Then will come the practice of editing with the aim of creating a corpus of text to share during a public reading. We will then approach the notions of phonetics, breathing, rhythm, punctuation.
Required level
This course is aimed at all people wishing to learn more about queer theories, confront them and experiment with writing based on them. It is designed for those who are not directly concerned by the term queer: to all those who are curious, welcome, actors and writers, amateur or experienced, this is the place to ask your questions and experiment with new forms of writing.
Equipment required
Bring loose clothing and something to write with.
